rustic kitchen and wood-burning stove

The idyllic Abergalm hut, also known as Schönaugut, is located at 1,000 metres above sea level in the heart of the Schwarzleotal valley. The hut was constructed between the 13th and 14th centuries and originally used to store wheat. The original kitchen with its wood-burning stove is a unique relic of bygone days. Since 1854, the hut has been owned by the Mühlauer family from the local Brandstatthof. Their cattle can occasionally be seen peacefully grazing on the nearby pastures. Visit this gorgeous place high up in the Alps and explore authentic alpine living.
Visit the idyllic Abergalm hut
We have rented and cared for this rustic alpine hut since 2008. Tucked away in the mountains, it’s the perfect place to get away from it all. Every week we offer guided hikes to the hut exclusively for our guests. During the winter months we hike with snowshoes and, in the summer, we simply pull on our mountain boots. Up at the hut, a hearty treat awaits in the form of delicious Tyrolean cheese dumpling soups and local schnapps. What better way to experience local history and the magic of a traditional mountain hut? Couples looking for a romantic experience can book the hut and enjoy a night alone in the mountains.

Did you know that the Abergalm hut can be booked for a romantic getaway in the mountains? Share moments of peace and quiet with your loved one. All you have to do is let us know and we’ll take care of the rest. Our team is happy to answer any questions by email or telephone.
